Blackcurrant - Freesia - Cedar
You are viewing the stunning Mexico candle from the Baobab Cities collection.
Inspiration
The glass of the Mexico City scented candle is covered in a gold and colourful silk screen print representing a heart ex-voto, a small object that was spiritually used to address a wish or to thank for the grace that one is granted. These heart motifs are placed around the glass with, at the bottom, a subtle embroidery motif that is found in Mexican crafts and on Frida Kalho’s corsages.
Fragrance
Its gourmet scent of blackcurrant, freesia and cedar is a tribute to a Latin land rich in colours
"With Baobab Collection the candle becomes an object of decoration. Like the baobab tree in the African savannah, the candle impresses and stands out from the ordinary. An ordinary product that becomes extraordinary. This is probably what defines luxury."
About The Mexico Candle
A unique representation of the Mexican ex-voto to illustrate the Mexico City candle in a colourful silk-screen print inspired more by baroque art and craftsmanship than by the city’s architecture. Its gourmet fragrance awakens the senses and projects us into the colourful world of this megalopolis.
The pre-Columbian city founded in the 14th century by the Aztecs on an islet of the lake Texcoco is the first capital of the South American continent. In 1522, it became the city of Mexico and the capital of New Spain after the victory of the Spanish conquistadores. Its diverse architecture mixes genres as the magnificent historical buildings flirt with the minimalist and colourful architecture of Luis Barragán.
But let’s go back to the Mexico candle, whose silk-screen print represents a heart shaped ex-voto. An ex-voto is a small object that we offer to a god either to make a wish or to thank him for the grace he grants us. The value of the ex-voto, of the object is mainly in the meaning that one gives to it. The ex-voto hearts are commonly made of ceramic or metal. They are often coloured or enamelled and become very decorative objects.
