Venetiae is a tribute to the city of Venice, to its charm, magnificence and culture and to ancient traditions.
The lids have been made by recovering the “Briccole” (the poles that the inhabitants have been using for thousands of years to mark the navigable waterways and mark the maritime traffic). The dolphins (briccole) are inserted in the water for over 20 years and in this time the wood gets “eaten” by the small creatures in the water (a sort of sea worm) which eats the wood and creates holes in it. When the wood is too damaged it is replaced with new one.
This kind of lid is very hard to make, as at least 70 to 80% becomes waste as it cracks and breaks into pieces during its production.
All the lids of this collection (including candles) are made of Briccole wood. Registered Design.
